We're hiring a part-term (32 hours per week) Lead Thrift Store Associate for our Cents & Sensibility Thrift Store in Independence, WI. Job duties include: Supervise Staff and Volunteers
Provide orientation and training to volunteers and staff on store operations and quality standards
Assign daily work tasks according to store priorities
Supervise activities of employees and volunteers
Schedule and monitor break times and lunches
Promotes a sense of teamwork, good morale, and service to our clients/customers
Enforce work rules outlined and provided by WDEOC
Monitor, correct, and document performance issues of staff and volunteers
Training
Train and supervise staff and volunteers on store policies and procedures
Train and supervise cashiers on cash register procedures and cash handling practices
Work with community volunteers and training program participants to provide overall training and direction of store operations
Reporting
Communicate regularly (at least once a week) with the store manager regarding operations and employee or volunteer issues
Monitor store supplies and notify store manager of needed supplies
Store Management
Maintain a pleasant, professional, and service-oriented environment between the store staff, clients, and customers
Supervise the stocking and rotation of merchandise on the retail floor
Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly appearance on the retail floor
Oversee “certificate” process and policies in the store
Ensure accurate deposits and accounts and maintain adequate currency at store
Maintain security of all cash receipts and surplus cash in a safe & secure location
Enforce proper cash handling procedures by all staff members
Ensure the safety and security of the building
Processing Donations
Assist customers with carrying in their donations as needed
Make decisions and sort items based on quality standards
Wash, dry, and steam donations
Price & tag items according to pricing charts
Maintain and organize upstairs storage area
Carry seasonal items and other donations to and from storage area
Attend to Retail and Merchandising
Create and publish “weekly sales” on Facebook
Price & tag merchandise and place in the correct area of the store
Assure proper organization by size on the racks
Attractively display merchandise
Remove empty hangers and inappropriate seasonal clothing
Operate cash register & process transactions from the credit card terminal
Make daily deposits to the bank
Provide quality customer service and maintain confidentiality
Attend to the Needed Cleaning and General Maintenance of the Store
General maintenance of the store
Monitor store cleaning charts and ensure staff are performing duties
Clean and organize sorting rooms, sales floors, and upstairs storage area
Qualifications
Be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Be punctual and maintain a neat appearance
Be able to operate a cash register and other store equipment
Have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate a wide variety of information to staff, volunteers, donors, clients, and customers
Have excellent multi-tasking ability
Have excellent listening skills
Be accurate and detail oriented
Have good organizational skills
Be able to move around in a store environment during the workday
Have a strong sense of customer service
The ability to work with diverse populations represented by store employees, volunteers, customers, and clients
Be knowledgeable of basic computer operations and simple mathematical calculations to oversee a retail, non-profit business
Education and/or Experience This position requires a high school diploma or GED. An associate degree with 2-4 years of experience is preferred or equivalent 4-6 years of retail experience. The starting salary is $15.11 per hour. We offer a complete benefit package, including:
